Research

The broad-ranging research at the University of Gothenburg is innovative, characterised by multidisciplinary cooperation, closely linked to education and stands in close contact with society.   • The plastics industry is leaking huge amounts of microplastics

    [15 Feb 2018] Millions of plastic pellets are leaking out into the environment from a manufacturing site in Stenungsund. This has been shown by a new study conducted by researchers at the University of Gothenburg. Despite several international and national sets of regulatory frameworks, the leaking continues.

  • New structure discovered in human sperm tails

    [12 Feb 2018] A highly effective tail is needed in order for a sperm to be able to swim, and for a baby to be conceived. By using cryo-electron tomography, researchers at the University of Gothenburg - working in partnership with researchers in the USA - have identified a completely new nanostructure inside sperm tails.
