  • Why do fish suffer heat stroke?

    [28 Apr 2017] Ongoing global warming will result in elevated average water temperatures, as well as more frequent and intense heat waves. But what determines the upper temperature limit for fish? And more importantly, can fish adjust to increasing water temperatures? Andreas Ekström, a researcher at Gothenburg University, strives to answer these questions in his recently published PhD thesis.

  • Success in the 3D Bioprinting of Cartilage

    [28 Apr 2017] A team of researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy has managed to generate cartilage tissue by printing stem cells using a 3D-bioprinter. The fact that the stem cells survived being printed in this manner is a success in itself. In addition, the research team was able to influence the cells to multiply and differentiate to form chondrocytes (cartilage cells) in the printed structure.

  • Mattias Goksör is the University Board's candidate as Pro-Vice-Chancellor

    [25 Apr 2017] The University Board decided at its meeting today, April 25, to present only one candidate as new Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Gothenburg, and that is Mattias Goksör, Head of Department at the Department for Physics. He will be presented to the consultative assembly on May 19.
